A practical plan for the work you want to do.
A collection of recordings, a language resource, a podcast launch or a new recording space can raise questions about equipment, costs, training and ongoing care.
I work with Indigenous communities, cultural organizations and research teams to turn those questions into an agreed scope, a realistic technical plan and clear next steps.

What we can work on together
Start with the decision your team needs to make. Depending on the scope, consulting can produce a collection assessment, equipment plan, documented workflow, technical budget or staff workshop.
Collections & archives
Assess formats and priorities, identify transfer needs, and plan preservation, file organization, storage and appropriate access.
Possible deliverable: a prioritized collection assessment and digitization plan.
Recording & digitization spaces
Choose equipment, plan the signal path and develop recording or transfer procedures that staff can use and maintain, including setups for podcasts and spoken-word recording.
Possible deliverable: an equipment plan and documented workflow.
Language resources & technology
Plan ReadAlong production, evaluate speech tools and consider where AI may be useful, with permissions and data stewardship built into the discussion.
Possible deliverable: a resource-production plan or practical staff workshop.
Environmental recording & listening
Develop a field-recording approach, select microphones or hydrophones and plan practical training around the team’s listening priorities.
Possible deliverable: a field-recording and training plan.
Project development & funding preparation
A proposed project needs a scope, technical budget, schedule and a plan for the people who will carry it forward. I can help define collection priorities, equipment needs, training goals, preservation and access plans, and the work required.
The community leads the application and decisions about its materials. Consulting can support the technical planning behind that application.
How an engagement begins
1. Talk through your priorities
Use the free introductory call to describe the project, your team, what you already have and any deadline.
2. Agree on the work
We define the outcome, scope, estimated hours and deliverables before consulting billed at $125/hour begins.
3. Develop a usable plan
The agreed work can include assessment, practical recommendations, documentation or training to support your team’s next steps.
Community authority, cultural protocols and local priorities guide the work. Permissions, storage, access and any proposed use of external technology belong in the planning conversation.
